  1. Water consumption is understood as the difference between the amount of water withdrawn in the units and the amount of water returned to the environment in compliance with environmental parameters of the legislation in force (treated effluents) and the losses (evaporation and incorporation into the product). In addition, the calculation of this indicator considers finished and salable pulp and different types of papers and consumer goods produced in each unit. 2. At the Belém Unit, there was a reduction by almost 50% in water consumption due to the change to the production process (use of recycled fibers discontinued, using only pulp).

  Additional information:

  Although Suzano showed an increase in absolute water consumption in 2020, compared with 2019, reflecting the 9.9% increase in production, specific water consumption in the period was 4.08 m³/t, below the specific consumption recorded in 2019 (4.44 m³/t), representing a reduction of 8.1%.
